Do you think boxing should have loser retires fights?

    I think it should

Think about it at heavyweight we have all these old timers like Ortiz, Pulev, few others

I think they should have a retirement match where the loser retires or goes to MMA or something

It'd add ****e to the fight and allow boxing to clear out some of the old dross that's still hanging on

Are you kidding? You think every boxer is only significant when he’s undefeated? That’s not how you measure if a boxer is top level or not. If that’s the case, every boxer will cherrypick instead of fighting real competitions to avoid losing and continue boxing.

And people wonder why MMA significantly outshining boxing

I don't think he means anyone should retire when they lose their 0. I believe he is saying that once a fighter is well past his prime they can go up vs an opponent in a similar situation and the loser is contractually forced into retirement somehow...

I think? I don't know. My Name Is Earl Jason Lee always making weird trolly threads like this.

no boxing has always been decentralized and what you are talking about requires a central point of control, like the UFC and that comes with its own set of problems

Theres no one organization that could ban someone from boxing and that is for the best.

If them old fighters are good enough to be top 15 then all you would be doing is weakening the division more.

retirement should be up to the boxer. Many of them fight for a living.most boxers will never be a champion or top contender but that does not mean they must retire.

It's funny because I think that what you're describing already happens organically. For example, there will always be crossroads matchups between older fighters where the winner gets another big opportunity and the loser is left to ponder their future.

Just to illustrate, let's say we get a fight like Kubrat Pulev vs. Luis Ortiz. The winner stays relevant for a bit longer while the loser would probably be used as a stepping stone for the top young prospects. If the loser decides that he doesn't wanna do that then he will either hang up the gloves like your scenario suggests or end up buried on undercards where we barely see them anyway.
