Callum Smith says he will be ready

For those who think that Callum Smith didn't have enough time to prepare for Canelo:

“It’s been tough, but I’m a professional fighter and I’m paid to train and keep my body in the best shape possible and you’ve always got to be ready for the call and I got the Canelo call just over four weeks ago, and if I hadn’t been in the gym and living that type of life then I would have never been able to accept it, but I was.”

The article also mentions how Smith had been a potential Canelo opponent for months prior to the announcement. If he's ok with the prep time then I am as well and I'm looking forward to a good fight. Here is the full article if anyone is interested:

Callum Smith knows he put on a piss-poor performance in his last fight against John Ryder last November, but he believes the critics who keep harping on it as a true indication of his abilities clearly have no clue what the word “anomaly” means.

He can switch his tune if he wants but he's already on record so let's see how the fight goes.

He should be ready because he has been a possible opponent for Canelo for a while and a win really helps his career and money making ptential.

There is still a difference between a 4-week training camp and an 8-week training camp. Bet your ass that Canelo was in full training camp mode for at least a month or two prior to choosing Smith.

He may have rejected it because of short notice. These guys walk around heavy, they need more than a month or two to shed that weight so they aren't depleted. Or maybe the money wasn't right. Either way, four weeks is not a sufficient training camp.
