Comments Thread For: Nakatani Suffered Fractured Right Orbital Bone In Knockout Win Over Verdejo

Masayoshi Nakatani's comeback against Felix Verdejo was even more impressive than viewers might've realized Saturday night. The Japanese lightweight contender didn't just overcome the first two knockdowns of his career during his ninth-round knockout of Verdejo. BoxingScene.com has learned that Nakatani suffered a fractured right orbital bone in their scheduled 10-round fight at MGM Grand Conference Center in Las Vegas.

Much respect to Nakatani for continuing to battle even when he was taking some big shots and then eventually getting the stoppage. Hell of a fight.

Great post. The Dubois apologists claim that he "quit" to preserve his eyesight. He had no idea of the damage. What he did know was that he was frustrated and exhausted.

Two different fighters in two different situations. Nobody knows what either guy felt in the moment and it’s possible to give credit to Nakatani without putting Dubois down.

It's the grit. Colbert looked beautiful, but Nakatani went to war. Chris has the style, he'll get his night, but Miyoshi showed the heart. Fight of the night.

It was an incredible win for Nakatani, the he came back from those devastating knock downs. It was almost inhuman, almost any other fighter would've been knocked out. He should definitely be considered for a title shot against Teofimo Lopez. That said he can't take to many more beatings like this without suffering permanent damage to his brain. He's a true warrior, and deserves all the respect from boxing fans around the world.
