Comments Thread For: Oleksandr Usyk Could Be Offered Deal To Fight For Vacant WBO Title

Ring is too small for heavyweights than it is for other fighters. He couldn't even take a knee - that's how small free space he had against a pushing heavyweight competitor. Referee clearly saw that Pulev didn't want to run away from the fight itself, he just tried to get a knee under a massive fighter's barrage of punches on a small ring.
In fact, I do NOT get the No Standing Knockdown rule at all. Maybe with corruption in this sport they thought referees could count those standing knockdowns when that fit but that is creating 1 problem without solving the previous problem of corruption.
Also, I really feel disgusted that it is mandatory to count to 8 instead of to 9. Experienced fighters manage to calculate time to get up after 9 for extra second although referee can wave it off immediately after 9 if fighter does not have weight in boxing society. Even in this conditions Pulev still got up earlier than 8.
As for the count, some referees (not all) tell them in their dressing room that if they're not getting up by the count of eight, they'll wave the fight off. I don't really agree with it, but it is what it is. I'm not sure what that has to do with Pulev though, he stayed down on his knees for the full count of ten.Comment

"Hearn will even suggest to Usyk that a vacant title fight could be pre-arranged to take place a little as two weeks after Joshua-Fury."
Hearn is flicking piss at Usyk here. If that happens, it would totally bomb. Everyone will still be talking about Joshua/Fury.Comment

Lol...a small ring doesn't stop somebody taking a knee. Neither does somebody throwing punches at you. To take a knee you don't go left, right, forwards or backwards...you go, down lol

Pulev got up in round 3 immediately on the 1st KD and got up on count 4 on the 2nd KD. That clearly shows I was correct and Pulev didn't want to stop the fight or turn back to run put of the ring.

Clearly Pulev answered foolish foolish commentators wrong here.Last edited by Ajvar; 12-16-2020, 05:43 AM.Comment

He is nothing like Holyfield! Usyk is a hype job at HW, cleaned out a bare cupboard at Cruiser, it’s a dead beat division anyway and got him ‘super champ’ status, some divisions shouldn’t be allowed to give that title, it’s ludicrous he gets a mandatory after his only worthwhile HW fight is beating Chisora. How about put him in with Wilder for the vacant title, if he’s the goods, they won’t, they’ll look way down the list to Hughie Fury or some other powder puff puncher...it’s BSComment
