Comments Thread For: Oleksandr Usyk Could Be Offered Deal To Fight For Vacant WBO Title

Oleksandr Usyk could be offered a deal that would see him box for the vacant WBO heavyweight title just weeks after an Anthony Joshua-Tyson Fury fight to ensure the undisputed world heavyweight title is on the line when the two British fighters box next year.

If i was team Usyk i'd tell him to take a step aside fee and then cash out against Joshua. He's just not good enough to fight the top guys. Get that money instead of losing to a challenger for less.

After AJs performance against Pulev i guess Usyk is not too worried. He should worry a lot more about Fury.

Let Usyk fight for the WBO, he’s a hype job anyway, been a long time since someone has been crafted to look like the real deal, but they can’t protect him forever, longer he stays in the HW division the odds are he’s gonna get KO’d, Parker could even do it and boy would he love a shot at that title and prospect of another go at AJ. Yeah I know there’s heaps of Usyk fanboys out there so not expecting this to be a popular point of view.

He should step aside, get an opportunity to get his @ss kicked for ALL the belts by the undisputed champ, and get paid TWICE. Who is advising this guy??

Why wouldn't Usyk be worried? He was getting caught with clean shots by Chisora. He also doesn't have the power to hurt Joshua. Joshua will destroy him. But at least he'd get paid well.

You say they can't protect him forever, but he wants Joshua next. I don't see any protection going on.

                It’s not that simple though

The current arrangements are between Hearn, WBO and Usyk

If they step aside, and Fury wins, Fury has no contractual obligations with Usyk, nor should be be forced into any. So if he wins, and then vacates all of the titles which is likely, Usyk won’t get a shot at the Undisputed title

Fury vs Joshua will have a rematch clause either way. So neither could defend for a year anyway .. does he want to wait at least a year.

Green k sent Usyk doesnt have what it takes to beat AJ or Fury IMO and the step aside money will be huge considering what he will make fighting for the vacant title.
