The nuber of rounds for a title - a question

I don't want to go to archaic times when there could be e.g. 25 rounds, but title fights not so long ago used to be held in 15 rounds. Since when and why they cut it to 12 rounds ?

well, theres the reason they did it, and the reason they claim they did it

They claim they did it for fighters safeties. I believe the change was right after Mancini beat Deuk Koo Kim and Kim died later that night so 1983? (EDIT - Just checked and the last 15 round HW fight was apparently on October 16, 1987 between Mike Tyson and Tyrell Biggs.)

The reason they did it though was because you could fit a 12 round fight into an hour television block.
