  • Comments Thread For: Cliches and Crowds: Anthony Joshua vs. Kubrat Pulev

By Tris Dixon - Boxers exchanging their last pre-fight barbs during those obligatory face-to-face weigh-in pictures is nothing new. But it's fair to say that Anthony Joshua and Kubrat Pulev's lengthy verbal tiff after they'd both hit the scales gave Mathroom's Eddie Hearn those warm tingly feelings, when he knows he can sell a product to market. Pulev weighed in at 239.7lbs...

Hmmnnn ... appears Pulev got into his head somewhat, Point for Pulev?

So, will this fight shed light on Joshua, post Ruiz demolition (that re-match wasn't a fight)? Which Joshua shows up for big fights anymore? Does Pulev have a career fight left in him? Will the fighters determine the outcome or the ref or the (hand-picked) judges in this British Championship fight?

Intriguing. Many potential revelations per where we are at The end of 2020.

remember the 90ties when they almost chinned each other pretty often. Nothing unusual here. Pulev is a dirty one and I expect him to do the rounds. So AJ by points.

It was when Joshua got a bit over eager and disregarded his defence and chin that Dillian Whyte clipped him, when Wlad clipped him and especially when Ruiz clipped him. Pulev is goading Joshua in to being aggressive as he sees that as his best opportunity to get a big hook in and feels that if he clips him once he should be there for the finishing cuz Joshua takes ages to recover from a big shot.

This turns into a fight ? I hope so, on paper it is what a $ 3 fight from DAZN. If you break down the cost of this year. So no loss there, timewise it should come on early in the day, that is another reason to watch, nothing competing with it at that time here. Funny but true if A.J. gets knocked around, gets up or whatever the worst the fight goes for him the better the future looks for him. Short of a 45 second first round K.O. Win let them get dirty, and take it personal. A.J. fought with a bit of fear his last two fights. Once bc he got KO'd second bc he just wanted a win and get out of there and start his business over again in the ring. This fight and all fights till further notice are March Madness fights. We all know what happened in March. In a normal fight year this would be pushed aside as a watch later fight, but during this year/ end of year / start to a DAZN end of year boost to GGG then to Canelo-Smith and set the table at least DAZN hopes. I just want to see some fights. Some blood some knock downs some close counts while guys are getting up. Not safety first and all that. Soon enough I will find out. Let the end of year build up begin.

I for one, Certainly believe it was Staged. Wouldn’t be the first or last fight to do similar. Moseley got Mayorga to smack his woman’s @ss Before in the name of “Promoting”. It’s done what it was intended for, get the Casuals talking.

I see Pulev been timid Round 1.
In round 2 I believe He will start to roll the dice and Go for it. Don’t think it will be enough to win though I’m afraid. Joshua for the KO in this one.

Good Article from Tris, quite underrated he is. Consistently gives great articles and interviews though. Respect to you sir.
