If networks and promoters did not block fights

And boxers could fight other top boxers would that not make ppv numbers go up and everyone around get paid more then trying to keep everything in house while getting less revenue from views?

Promoters and networks are the ones who organize the huge events in huge arenas. So unfortunately, they ultimately call the shots. But I agree with you Larry. We would get more better fights without the bureaucracy.

Yes and no. You obviously still need to build the fighters to the point where they're a draw/attraction which undoubtedly takes a promotional outfit and the accompanying networks. You cant exhaust the ppv model on EVERY fight either as were seeing now.Fighters and promoters just need to strike when the irons and build off of that. Its as much as the fighters undoing as it it is the promoters/networs,cant have one without the other.

100% there would be more revenue. But it would also mean that specific promoters might have have as much of a hold on their current % of it. I mean if you got a big draw in todays market you might be doing great but if everything opened up & your draw got KTFO 3 times in a row to other top guys that destroys your % of the pie that you had on lock when things were divided.

As to networks I just don't know that any one network wants to buy all of boxing basically so they are just playing the game as its set right now by taking a piece of boxing which is what networks do. But a network alone could change the game in theory if it just made deals with all the major promoters & used their power to influence promoters &/or fighters to make all the best fights.

The fighters are to blame as well.

Just seems like the sport is killing itself..the fans are more confused then anything imo..hard to get into something where you have to subscribe to many different things to see the fighters you want. They do not even know who the champions are most of the time anymore

The fighters got lil to no power the way things work. Bud can't make a deal with PBC to fight Spence if Arum & probably ESPN don't sign off on it.

And they got a limited lifespan in boxing so playing hardball with those with more power than you can damage your career. Arum has been around since fooking Ali. ESPN has been around since the late 70's/early 80's iirc. You can't out wait people who've been in power for decades when as a boxer you're usually washed or a shadow of your best self at 32, 33.

Mayweather, Canelo, Tyson etc, and any of the bigger name fighters through history can fight whoever they want. They choose to cherry pick.
