Tyson-Jones just confirmed a new era, like it or not, the era of freakshows. First Mayweather started this, then the paul brother fights and now its confirmed, people will pay BIG money for this stuff.
Ali had exhibitions, bareknuckle/mma crossover fights were always a thing.
Common folk fights with pros vs joes, or celebrity boxing was always a thing.
Chavez Sr has been doing sparring exhibitions for years.
The difference here is that now the freak show fights are outselling and outpaying the real fights, there has to be some repercussions of this.
For starters look at Pacquaio, because of his celebrity, he can make more or as much, fighting either mcreggor or a paul brother than fighting spence or crawford.... so right off the bat, those fights might never happen.
My first take was the mcgreggor fight was fine as a crossover fight between two professionals and to get the MMA fans interested in boxing.
Its clear now though that it has had longer term consequences for boxing. This was the fight that started this new trend.Comment

this has been going on for centuries dude. it's an exhibition. floyd is retired. he's made his money and he's not coming back to fight dangerous guys and win world titles.
he's fighting for money and for some spotlight and he's earned it. the paul brothers, like them or not, train hard and they bring young viewers to a sport that has always had trouble breaking through with the youth. the paul brothers, between the two of them and over all of their platforms, probably have a hundred million followersComment
