Comments Thread For: Joshua Believes WBO Should Hold Fury Unification Above Usyk Defense

IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is looking for a monster year in 2021. This Saturday night at the SSE Arena at Wembley, Joshua will defend his titles against the IBF's mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev. Should Joshua win, he will set his sights on a full division unification clash with Tyson Fury.

First of all if Joshua fought twice a year this wouldn't be such an issue. Having one fight a year is ultra-lame. Personally I'd like to see him take 3 fights a year depending on how tough the fights turn out to be

But yes Fury should get priority. Usyk has only beat Chisora and a nobody at HW . Usyk should wait and fight the winner of Fury Vs AJ. That would be fair.

Joshua would have fought more ......a dust up for all the marbles should trump a defense against a so far pretty lame Usyk.

I’d also like to see him fight 3 times a year. As soon as he started boxing twice a year he seemed to be really muscular and he stopped his combination punching as much.

Joshua has fought twice a year from 2017-2019. He’s only fighting once this year because of a global pandemic!

That's good to hear that from Joshua that he going to apply for exemption or, if not granted by WBO, fight Usyk first.

WBO should allow the unification, however if he has to drop the belt for Fury, then by all means DROP THE BELT!

It’s difficult to fight 3x a year when you’re getting paid at least £25-30million a fight when the bulk of the money comes from ticket sales, TV and PPV.

The only way he can make 3 fights a year work is to fight a bum in a foreign country in-between where the country would pay for the fight. If he beats Fury next year - I can see him fighting 3x - Fury 2x and Big **** in China.

I thought all Orgs had it written that Unification takes precedence over mandatory?
