Agree these idiots going pro with no experience fighting other nobodies is a joke when some fighters dedicate their lives to the sport and don’t get anywhere near the exposure or money.

But I like to look it the other way, boxing is exploiting these youtubers to bring the sport to a young audience who otherwise would never watch a fight!

    Not think?
I agree with you, guys like Ryan, Haney, Tank Teofimo, and even Wilder have benefited tremendously from social media. I'm all for fighters getting more exposure and self promoting and social media platforms have been a great tool.

Ryan Garcia is famous due to his instagram videos first and foremost. But I don’t think that detracts from or effects boxing in anyway?

Look at YouTube and outlets such as iFL TV, that’s allowed fans to get even closer to the sport and a better insight than ever.

I think the problem is these social media stars and the exhibition fights rather than the platforms themselves

Look at MTK steaming fights on Facebook and then matchroom putting the women’s world title bill free to air on YouTube, this sort of thing can only be positive??

I think it's taken the fun out of it a little bit for me. I used to like a whole lot of fighters but I check twitter or come here and it turns out everybody fucking sucks.

This, but it's not just kids. People across every age spectrum have been driven insane by the lunacy that spreads on twitter and facebook

No, promoters/advisors and their nut-hugging fanboys have ruined the sport.

Also the boring, safety first fighters that are too scared to fight each other toe-to-toe like real men is the main factor, the runners and huggers of the sport disguised as so called "hit and not be hit" which is pure bull s h* t.

The mentality of today's fighters now is to get in the ring, take no damage, f u c k the fans and rob the bank, post-haste.

I can see this trend hurting boxing at some point if all fans want to see are freak shows and mismatches. Eventually it will become harder to sell legit fights and these exhibitions become more lucrative. Hopefully it's just a fad. For a while boxing had to compete with Toughman Contests and the rise of Butterbean, and the short lived celebrity boxing show in the early 2000's. This current trend seems to have a lot more traction.

I think it’s just allowed us to all express how garbage we are.

No one in boxing would have thought back in 1998 “Let’s have Oscar De La Hoya punch Jim Carey in the face.”

Because it’s ******. Just like it’s ****** to have Mayweather punch Logan Paul in the face.

But now the dumb public has a vehicle to express what it wants. And they obviously want Mayweather-Paul.

I think we all really would have wanted Oscar De La Hoya- Jim Carey 21 years ago. We just couldn’t express it.

yeah people were always dumb, steveo from jackass ran into mike tysons fist for free just for attention.

johnny knoxville had sideshow butterbean knock him out in some retail store.

The actual money they made off of that was almost nothing, just to have a bit for their shows/movies.

Now days they could get big money for the same thing

they always had ****** stuff but now the side shows are making more than all but the top 10 biggest drawing boxers.

Its been in that direction for a while, i mean mayweather-mcgreggor made more money than canelo-ggg and more than spence-crawford would.

That WAS a sideshow but now it seems more legitimate, his latest oppoenents are getting more and more ridiculous. From elite MMA striker to much smaller kick boxer to youtuber.

Social Media has only shown how terrible most boxers are at marketing. You have to be adaptable to new marketing trends.
