It's a valid question. Crawford passes the eye test but his 147 run has been extremely poor by any standards, and makes it difficult to gauge how he'd fare versus the top welters.

I mean how can we be sure? I guess we can't, but Crawford is having little to no issues with all his opponents. Even when Danny has faced less than elite level WWs, he's had some close calls or looked a bit shaky in some fights. Whereas Crawford doesn't have those issues and is pretty much dominating everyone.

Would I expect Crawford to dominate the likes of Spence or Porter or Thurman (The one Danny fought)? Of course not. But would I expect him to beat Porter or Thurman? Yes I would, but they would be competitive fights. And then the Spence fight is a total 50/50 pick-em at this point.

Danny has 3 losses but against guys like Porter, Thurman, Spence.

We are pretending like Crawford is something like Spence, if not better, but why should we think that? Because he beat the shadow of Khan at 147? Danny killed much better version of prime Khan at 140.

Crawford was unified at 140. Danny Garcia was unified at 140. He beat badly Matthysse, who was seen as some boogeyman there.

What if Crawford is actually something like Garcia at 147 and he will lose badly when he steps up?

Lets not pretend like Crawford fought anybody like Porter, Spence, Thurman, that beat Garcia.
