Spence bodywork is so overrated

Yes Garcia is cautious. That has its place but there are times when you have to go for it to give the other guy something to worry about.Could be that Spence was gassed from the hard body shots that Garcia landed throughout the fight. It's not like Spence didn't get hit by quite a few heavy shots. He proved that the accident didn't take too much out of him. I was a bit surprised how well Garcia fought but of course the same old Danny boy showed up again, not wanting to go for broke and take any serious risks. He did pretty damn good, even in a losing effort. Spence looked quite good too. Good, entertaining, competitive fight.Comment

Easy to say when you aren't in the ring.
His body punches clearly do damage. Garcia was feeling them the whole fight but he has a good arm to torso ratio for boxing. His elbows hit his hips with his guard up.
I don't know why people over look stuff like that while making statements like the OP.
Spence's power also isn't explosive power.
He has the power to knock someone out cold if they get hit flush but it's not explosive. It's like swinging a sledgehammer. He has natural power. Not the kind that requires big mechanical wind ups or relies on velocity.
Everyone who knows boxing, knows that kind of power is the most dangerous kind.
Because he will hit you with the same power in round 1, in round 12.
Which is much different to dudes who fade late into fights and can't generate power by the last round.
It doesn't 'look' as pretty but it's the kind that lasts.Comment

I would say that beating Garcia proved that he's back to where he was before. Also, he beat Danny more decisively than Thurman or Porter did so that means something.Spence hadn't been in the ring for a long ass time and looked fine.
The biggest question mark coming into this fight was "Is Spence the same". If Spence was fine he would probably cruise to an easy UD (which he did) and if he wasn't okay lose or get KTFO.
Spence cruised easily to a wide UD because Garcia couldn't get past his jab which let me remind you is the most important punch in boxing.
If someone can't get past your jab youre a ****ing FOOL for decided to all of a sudden start trading. Spence isn't a fool. Now he just needs to fight Crawford. Beating Danny proved nothing because we all knew it was the most likely outcome.Comment

Definitely not overrated. But I also think Spence felt Danny’s bodywork. Spence has been open to bodywork, maybe someone will learn from the little success Garcia had.Comment
