Comments Thread For: Errol Spence-Danny Garcia Weigh-In Results From Dallas

DALLAS Errol Spence Jr. weighed slightly less Friday afternoon than he did the day before he fought Shawn Porter 14 months ago. The unbeaten IBF and WBC welterweight champion had a lot less trouble getting down to the welterweight limit, though, for his fight against Danny Garcia on Saturday night. Spence, who officially weighed 146.4 pounds at the Renaissance Dallas hotel, entered his nine-week training camp in "the low 160s," as opposed to beginning camp for the Porter fight at nearly 190 pounds.

He just fought a month ago and by then all the fights on this card were already announced.

Cruz is one to watch though. May be getting Davis in 2021.

190 b4 Porter fight? That aint healthy. Fighters should now be mandated to have same day weigh ins.

As he stated, it was one of the reasons he couldn't control the pace of the fight more than he ended up doing.

Yep, by that fight he had already caught the PBC disease. You know the Broner, Davis, charlo, Easter falling out of the clubs drunk or looking like they are pregnant because they aren’t living the life. Not sure what he weighed before the Mikey Garcia camp, maybe that’s why he didn’t perform as well for that fight.

This weighin was boring the fight however

I believe will be a different story, buy now Spence may be at 160 and tomorrow 166 at least. Danny can fight and punch so I can’t wait to watch for free!

When they did that back in the day, they had even more problems with fighters being drained and no time to recover, they were even at a bigger health risk doing that way, it wasn't healthy, that's why they changed it. Just because it's same-day weigh in it doesn't stop fighters from shedding weight and fighting at lower divisions.

True athletic professionals wont lets themselves get to the point of having to MASSIVELY cut weight. Its not healthy as it is having to lose 50lbs in 3-4 months, ask any doctor. I bet it would make cats think twice, just my opinion.
