The real issue with Daniel Dubois...

Is not that he quit. It’s that he won’t admit he quit, his promoter won’t admit he quit and no one will force him to face it.

This is how I know he will fail.

    He is being coddled.

He took a big step up and I give him props for taking a fight he didn’t have to take.

    But he should have said:

“I’m sorry that I quit. I was worried about my eye and I want to continue my career. I need to work on my defense and I’ll be back stronger. Losing is okay at my age with the challenges I’m facing and it will make me better.”

Frank Warren should have then acknowledged it and the media should have acknowledged it.

Then, the next time Daniel Dubois gets knocked down, is hurt and beat up, he would remember how humiliating it was to admit defeat. He would have a chance to rise and come back. He might actually show mental fortitude.

But now he’s going to remember that it’s okay to give up. Everyone will love him, no one will force him to answer any questions about losing, his promoter will defend him and his country will have his back.

I’m watching a heavyweight prospect be bred into a loser right before my eyes.

Eh...he's a British heavyweight. Of course he's going to be coddled. I dislike Joshua because people do the same thing.

TBH I dont think Dubois needs to tell people why he quit, we all know he did (justifiably) and his reasons for doing so...anything more would just be needlessly embarrassing. The issue with Dubois isn't that he physically quit in round 10, its that he kinda mentally quit he round 3. Dubois looked spaced out the moment he realized Joyce had a chin. If he had been in the ring with better talent then he wouldn't have been so phased. TBH the Lartey fight was a big giveaway about how poorly he reacted when met with firepower. I honestly dont think quitting because of the eye will mean much but the lack of tangible response from Joe Joyce when it came to his power punching definitely will have him questioning himself.

Why would he come out and say "I quit"? It's there for every one to see. He wasn't taking a beaten (Like Cotto was in the Margarito fight), he wasn't concussed (Like Joshua in the Ruiz fight), he wasn't KO'ed (like Whyte was in the Povetkin fight). So went down from a sharp pain and allowed himself to be counted out, the referee didn't look into his eye and wave it off, his corner didn't throw in the towel to save him, they literally allowed him to go down on one knee and quit the fight. There is nothing to say or defend. it is what is is, If you think he should have continued then thats your opinion.

The only issue is he met a bigger more experienced guy with a chin so it caused the damage in 10 rounds .

Casual thinking is always the norm on here but the real situation is some of those clear shots Joyce was hit with put most out . He ran into a massive right at one point then stayed back with his right hand ,if that was Wilder ? Good night,he doesn’t have Joyce’s chin .

Again the forum giving credit to other fighters because they lost the forum never learns . Wilder would match up badly vs DDD and Ruiz matches badly with Wilder but Ruiz has better things vs Joshua so unless the actual fighter wins they don’t get credit. One loss doesn’t mean everyone can win ,it’s like the forum lives in a time warp because boxing never worked like that . Ha

            Jeez, let it go.

            It's over.

If he had not had a serious injury, I'd understand, but dude's got a serious injury.

            It is what it is.
