Comments Thread For: Spence: There Were Times I Wanted To Quit, But I Didn't Wanna Let My Kids Down

DALLAS Errol Spence Jr. admits there were times amid his challenging comeback that he wanted to quit boxing. Whenever those thoughts crossed Spence's mind, however, he looked toward his family for motivation. Spence primarily was inspired by his two young daughters 5-year-old Ivy and 3-year-old Violet and later by the impending birth of his son, Errol III, who was born a month ago, while battling back from injuries sustained during his well-documented car accident in October 2019.

Spence really needs that support. I’m sure it’s not easy to bounce back from a horrific accident like that. Hopefully he can maintain that discipline and motivation.

      Great article.
Right after I graduated I was involved in a collision with an 18 wheeler.
10 months of therapy, chiropractor, and pain management but I did get my license (equivalent of a world title) close to 20 months after I graduated.
I never root against Danny but I would love to see Spence come back from this

This is my issue I dont wanna root against Danny but I'm hoping Spence pulls it off just because of the comeback and then maybe we'll get Crawford and Spence

I like Spence....but with that said this is not encouraging news that he thought about quitting. I can't help but to think its also some slight shade to Daniel Dubois LOL

To be fair, the man is called Danny 'Gift' Garcia in some circles.

I remember that one crazy scorecard in the Porter fight.

... "while battling back from injuries sustained during his car accident"... but he used to say that he's OK, no serious injuries... well it seems it wasn't just like that...

For me the only 'Gift' Garcia receive it was maybe in Lamont Peterson fight. But in my eyes both losses on Garcia's record was really close and easily could have gone either way. Garcia was never really beaten and above all he was never outclassed
