Ortiz was 40 years old when he fought Wilder.

I checked out the boxrec heavyweight ranking for all of Wilder's wins. He has very few wins vs the top fighers. 0 zero wins vs a Top 10 fighter.

      Wins:
      #15 Luis Ortiz
      #19 Gerald Washington
      #29 Dominic Breazele
      #47 Johann Duhaupas
      #56 Chris Arreola
      #90 Eric Molina

That's only 4 of his 42 wins coming against top 50 Heavyweights. 36 out of his 42 wins came against Heavyweights outside of the top 100. That's embarrassing.
You have to consider what their ranking was when he fought them. Luis Ortiz was definitely top 10 at the time, if not top 5 when they first fought. Breazeale was hovering around the top 10. I'm not saying he's fought a murderer's row but those two were definitely ranked higher when he fought them.

Fury’s resume isn’t great, but he does have that big win over Klitchko which goes a long way.

He had good competitive match ups on the way up in McDerrmot and Del Boy, competitive match ups that Wilder never had at all until late in his career.

Bermane stiverne first fight and the Ortiz first fight were is best wins. And they were ranked definitely top 5 HW. But that’s about it. His rematching of those two were horrible. He could have fought others in that time especially Whyte that he ducked like the plague.

Am so glad you mentioned both the McDermott and shisorra fights. Because he doesn’t get enough credit for those fights, he was a prospect when he took those fights and it seems boxers get judge a higher point of their careers, they take into account that these boxers were also brought up at certain points.

Exactly, it’s not just the names it’s fighting very hard competitive fights for that period of your development. They were almost 50/50 fights that he didn’t have to take.

Ortiz's record is an even bigger joke than Wilder. He has beaten just 1 Top 100 fighter in his career. The rest of the fighters he faced were bums picked up from the local boxing gym.

Ortiz didn’t have a meaningful win 3 years prior to fighting Wilder . Wilder only took the fight when Ortiz age came out in public of reporting of 50 . He was telling everyone how he’d never fight Ortiz before that alleged news broke .
