Those same posters were in another thread supporting Oscar Delahoya's suggestion that Crawford face Vergil Ortiz as if Ortiz has earned it. Yet they'll say fighters like Haney, Charlo, or Andrade have to do more to get a big fight. Even though they all have a belt.


They are so transparent and it's obvious why they think this way. It is what it is.

There always seems to be an extra hurdle for some guys. Now I could see if Haney was ranked like 4th or something like that.

Haney earned the mando spot by winning the elimination fight. Why would he have to earn the fight more?

He was given the belt rather than given a shot to win it in the ring. It’s extremely unfair to hold that against him like you seem to be in this post.

Same with Charlo. He was the mando and didn’t get the shot. Now posters suggest he needs to win more to earn a shot he rightfully earned.

Haney won the eliminator. The combined records of his opposition is irrelevant. He doesn’t have to do anything else to get the title shot.

Irrelevant!? Huh? See that word “earned” that keeps getting in the way of that argument. I know those pesky little things we call facts tend to throw us off a little bit. When your opposition’s record leading into an eliminator is garbage it tells you EXACTLY what was at play when naming the boxers for said eliminator. Haney should NEVER have been in an “eliminator” to begin with! Who you’ve fought to “earn” an eliminator is EXACTLY what it should be based on not some magical fairy dust “eye test.”

Haney defenders will not face up to the fact that he was handed his belt. He didn’t EARN anything.

Is Haney a good boxer? Yes
Would I ever call Haney a bum? No
Did Haney “earn” his way to an eliminator?
Absolutely positively no. He was gifted the title against less than worthy opposition.
Will one day Haney “earn” his title? Perhaps

If Ryan Garcia beats Campbell, Haney-Garcia makes sense for DAZN. Then, the winner of Haney-Garcia should fight Lopez before he moves up to 140.

I just hope that after Arum said Lopez doesn't need Haney that they don't then go and fight Kambosos because Kambosos has proven himself even less. It's one thing to chose Kambosos because of money but Arum is talking about proving, not money, so he better stick to what he said.

Why can't Haney fight winner of Garcia/Campbell? Then get a shot at Teo. All these guys want title shots in a big hurry just because a couple of fighters were able to rise up quickly. I get it, they want the title and the money and the bargaining chips, but we can't set this precedent where every fighter thinks he's getting a title shot without at least one stand out win. Part of the blame goes to sanctioning bodies as well. They rank fighters too high who haven't earned their way to the top yet.
