Comments Thread For: Frank Warren on Daniel Dubois' Injury, The Future of His Career, Joyce

Daniel Dubois can come back from his loss to Joe Joyce but he needs to learn from the defeat, according to his promoter Frank Warren. Dubois was counted out in the tenth round of the British, Commonwealth and European heavyweight title fight at Church House, Westminster, when he took a knee after being caught on his damaged left eye by a jab.

Dubois made the right choice you don't risk your eyesight. Eyeballs don't heal like flesh and bone. That being said both didn't look good enough to be title challengers.

Warren was hoping for dubois to win since he's easier for his marketing. He could have put him vs the aging ortiz or the incoming gassiev and then qiming at a title shot.

Joyce is different. He's old by boxing standards and everybody knows he's very good. Aj won't ever be willing to fight him. Perhaps Fury, but after fighting aj and possibly wilder. And Joyce will be 37/38 by then.

Usyk will never risk (he would almost certainly lose).

No rematch needed, and that's a bad idea for Dubois. I don't understand how Frank says 'well, the injury was too bad and he had a handicap'. Dubois got a badly damaged fractured eye socket because Joyce hit him there a lot.

It's called boxing. Dubois got hurt because Joyce hit him, that's what happened Frank.

Credit to Frank for making the fight, better than anything on Matchroom this year.

I was shouting the same thing at the tv. Of course it would’ve been a different fight if Joyce didn’t punch him in the face.

Joyce should dump Warren, he doesn’t even try to hide how disappointed he is that Joyce won. And when he tried to compliment Joyce, it was all backhanded. I didn’t realise he was his promoter! It’s bordering on Arum disrespect.

He’s 23. He really doesn’t need a rematch this year

I don’t know why this hasn’t been picked up more - the way Frank has treated Joyce is an absolute disgrace! I didn’t realise he was Joyce’s promoter either, the way he had been talking so dismissively of Joyce and talking about putting Dubois in with Usyk after this fight and a whole bunch of other nonsense. No class or decency whatsoever.

I think he was working with JJ. The same way Hearn works with Whyte.

Usyk absolutely spanked Joyce in the WSB at heavyweight. Just saying.
