My take on the Friday fights

    Marqez - 10 - 9 - 9 - 10
    Grejada - 9 - 10 - 10 - 9

    I had it a draw.
Marquez either underestimated his opponent or isn't what he was in the amatuers. I mean Grejada hadn't fought in nearly 2 years, was heavier than ever, took the fight on 2 days notice, had already been KOd 3 times in his career and was homeless 6 months ago. For someone with Marquez's pedigree he couldn't have bought a better opponent to shine against, and he failed.
I tend to think that Marquez just thought he could take an out of shape, rusty fighter out early and punched himself out inthe first. Starting in the second minute of the second round his punches weren't as crisp, though I love the way he throws them short and committed.
For Grejada, you have to love the heart, and the endurance it took to throw over 100 punches per round given the conditions listed above. His punches in the 4th lacked power, but as he was out of shape and hadn't fought forever I will cut him some slack on that.

    Onrelas v Muņoz
Not much to say here, but I do have a question about Teddy Atlas.
Is Teddy Atlas ******ed? He's been around boxing for 50 years and still can't pronounce Mexican names. It's Moonyos, Teddy, not Myunos.
One of my favorite Teddy quotes ever happened in this fight, too.
"He's carrying a lot of belly around his stomach"

    Alatorre - 10 - 10 - 10 - 9
    Cisneros - 9 - 9 - 9 - 10

Alatorre should go back to his pineapple under the sea. He won the fight, but was completely unimpressive. He lunges with his punches, poses too much, bounces too much, wastes a lot of energy with unnecessary upper body movement. if he steps up to even a top 20 fighter he will get spanked.
Cisneros isn't even worth talking about.

    Wills - 10 - 9 - 10 - 9 - 10 - 10 - 9 - 9 76
    Salif - 9 - 10 - 9 - 10 - 8 - 9 - 10 - 10 75

Wills needs a lot of work, but he has a good basic skillset and a pretty good chin. He took some hard shots without slowing down, and his soft midsection belied his conditioning. He was taking some bombs to the gut throughout the fight and held up well. If they don't try to move him too fast I think he could at least compete at the upper levels and maybe fight for a title in the next few years.

Salif looks good when he's willing to work. When I say good, I mean good for what he is. He's a large, hard-hitting heavyweight. His problem may in fact be what was alluded to by Tesatore. He has a sparring partner mentality.

    Garcia v Sanchez
Not much to say here, either.
Garcia does look good, but he is hittable. I definitely want to see more from him. His opponents should take a good look at this fight, too. He is hurtable to the body. They will just need to sustain the body attack unlike Sanchez.

    Holyfield v Bates
I never thought I would say this, but Holyfield looked really good tonight. Yes, his opposition was hand-picked and very low caliber, but I was impressed by Holy's handspeed and timing. He looked like he did at Cruiserweight.
I do think he should take another small step up before he jumps into the mix, though. Maybe he could take on a good, fast B level opponent to see how he does.
Assuming he would win that in the same fashion, I wouldn't mind seeing him in against Brock, or perhaps a rematch with Toney.
It's too early to say he's back, but he certainly made an argument for it.

Also, I wish I looked as good at 40 as Holyfield does at amost 44.
