Honestly Berlanga has yet to impress me, Not saying hes not the goods. Tons of fighters with lots of power look great in the beginning of their career fighting lesser opposition . The way he leaps and opens up for shots wont work against the elites.
This fight would end with Berlanga being KOed in round 1. GGG's last opponent was ranked numger 5 in the world by Ring magazine and his next opponent is also ranked top 6 in the world b y most places. Berlanga s not ranked in the top 50 by any place and he has never fought anyone ranked even in the top 100. He seems good but they are matching him very carefully against non dangerous and the refs seem to stop his fights and declare him the winner very early sometimes. Let him actually beat anybody worth a sh it before you declare him better than the legit top 10 world ranked boxer GGG fights next. I know you hate GGG but at least try to be fair and accurate.
GGG likes fighting guy's in the top 50. Why not Berlanga + it's long overdue for G to move up
Why is it overdue for GGG to move up? Middleweight is the traditional weight class with all the history and prestige that 168 does not have and never will have. 168 is mostly a weight class for Europe. It is one of the newer in between weight classes that will never have the same prestige and respect as middleweight or light heavyweight. By staying at his best weight of 160 GGG can set a new record for successful middleweight title defenses. Berlanga is miles away from deserving a title shot a anyone. Let him actually earn a title shot at anyone by beating good fighters not set up cherry picks. The only fight for GGG at 168 that is worth his while is a third fight with Canelo.
