I hate to say it because I’m old school but this is the future.
I expect most boxing broadcasts going forward to have a standard crap undercard and then a three fight main event.
One of those three fights will be a celebrity boxing match. It brings in a fan base that doesn’t care about boxing at all that typically would stare at their phone during the fights.
The other will be an old man fight. It attracts the casual boxing fan, hardcore fans will watch because they can’t turn away and depending on the size of the name, it can get the Jake Paul audience too.
The final main event type fight on the card will be a real boxing match or feature at least one real name.
The billing will be ordered by drawing power obviously.
But this is the future. I expect this fight to sell. Everyone I talk to is interested, from the 20-something year old females to casual sports fans my 60 year old boxing hardcore buddies.
