Comments Thread For: Joe Joyce To Be Without Salas, Who Tests Positive For COVID-19

Joe Joyce's fight with Daniel Dubois will go ahead on Saturday, despite Ismael Salas, Joyce's trainer, testing positive for COVID. Salas tested positive for the virus after arriving at the fight hotel in Westminster, having spent the past three weeks in Las Vegas. Joyce had trained with the Cuban in Nevada in February and March ahead of the fight's original date and after being absent from Joyce's camp for the fight with Michael Wallisch in April, Salas came over to England to train him. However, a prior commitment saw him travel back to Las Vegas at the end of October, only returning this week.

Not sure if this effects the fight to much it’s only days away . Joyce is a good listener in the corner ,still going to roll with Joyce .

If Dubois is unable to get rid of Joyce within the first 6 rounds, there will be a reality check in deep waters to cause an upset.

How does your trainer fail and you don't, you'd think they would spend a long time close to each other.

The article said Salas got it traveling back to the U.S at some point not while in Joyce’s training camp over at the U.K .

Sounds like he will still have some capable corner assistance. At this stage the corner has already done most of their work. Maybe Salas could have offered some analysis and adjustment in between rounds but I think this won't really be much of an impact this close to the fight.

                  He seems a bit withdrawn

                    Interesting.

Salas hasn't been in camp with Joyce since October. No positive tests then, and you'd assume Joyce would have it with Salas' positive test.

Joyce being negative brings us to the now, more recent weeks and Ismael's time in Vegas.

My concern is for everybody that is/has been training with Ismael there most recently. Verdejo, Andy Dominguez, Dulorme, Robeisy Ramirez, the Barthelemy brothers, Ceja. Hoping for the best case scenario for each of them, their health and that significant dates scheduled aren't in jeopardy
