If the average person got punched on the nose as often as boxers do their nose would be leaking blood like a faucet. Because of the fact they get punched so often do boxer's nose bone strengthen over time?
Why don't boxers suffer a broken nose whenever they get punched on the nose?

Scar tissue and endurance over time. If you ever notice a fighter whose nose bleeds frequently or easily during fights it’s because they are using headgear with the protective face bar across the front. They never get hit on the nose in sparring, so when they get hit in a real fight the blood starts to flow. I can usually tell which fighters use dear by how easily or frequently their nose bleeds.
Years ago I had an old school trainer who fought during the sixties. He told me they used to snort salt water to toughen up the nasal cavity. Crazy.Comment

I actually did that salt thing. When I first started out I used to bleed all of the time from my nose in sparring, and I mean all of the time. I didn't experience nose bleeds in my fights though, kind of strange.Scar tissue and endurance over time. One day, it just stopped bleeding. Like Ghost said, I figured that it just built up so much scar tissue that it just stopped. I don't recall my nose ever bleeding while pro.
If you could have seen my amateur gyms white ring canvas you would have seen a ton of blood stains. And I know that many of the stains are mine. Your nose will bleed in this sport and that's just how it is.
As for the broken nose question, my nose just goes flat when hit like it was designed for fighting, it has just always done that for as long as I can remember. When I push my nose flat it just always flattened out. Now these guys with their straight protruding nose, I don't know. I do know that I would not like to be one of those guys though.....Rockin'

Any time someone got in the ring for the first time to spar they either got a bloody nose or a busted lip. Most of them never returned.I actually did that salt thing. I was never really fighting until I tasted some blood, then it was on. Bloody noses stopped, bloody lips and cuts inside of my mouth never did.........Rockin'
