Ah I always get a little upset thinking about Salvador Sanchez.

He might've gotten stopped in his next fight, or he might have lived to our high expectations of him. Who knows.

But I probably would have put my money on Sanchez.

Yes, I would put money on Sanchez in 1984. Now, say, in 1987, I don't know. Chavez had come a long way at that point. I think it would be much closer. And I think it's a close fight either way. But man. That would be a hell of a lot of talent in the ring at one time. It's a shame it never happened.

Both guys at their prime and at their natural weight I would go with Chavez.

2 dollars is all a player like you need to build an empire.

''How to'' seminars are popular and profitable here in USA.

I mean, these two would have fought more than likely. If so, who wins? I think I'd give the edge to Sanchez due to experience but it's hard to say. Chavez was quite the beast...
I think so. Realistically it would have probably happened in around 85, Sanchez would’ve been at his absolute peak with a wealth of elite level experience behind him. Whilst Chavez as great as he was hadn’t been tested by Gomez or a Nelson. Even the Castillo that Chavez beat wasn’t the same guy Sanchez had beat a few years earlier IMO.

I think Sanchez by UD or even a late stoppage. Prime for Prime it’s probably a lot closer but I’d still take Sanchez. JCC was a slow starter which would allow Sanchez to get into a rhythm, once Sal’s in his flow putting those combinations together it’s gonna be so tough for anyone to turn that tide.

We’ve seen loads of fighters lose their primes for various reasons but he’s the one guy I really wish we could have seen more of, I think he would’ve been the greatest Latino fighter ever, even better than Duran. Such a tragedy man...
