The Ryan Garcia-Luke Campbell fight hasn't been pushed back all that long. Golden Boy Promotions and Matchroom Boxing jointly announced Friday that the interim lightweight title bout between Garcia and Campbell has been rescheduled for January 2 at a location to be determined. Those two 135-pound contenders initially were scheduled to meet December 5 at Fantasy Springs, but Campbell contracted COVID-19, needed time off from training and withdrew from that date.

Went to high school with Luke. He’s a nice kid and probably has under achieved although he’s had it tough with his two title shots. Thing is if he were to lose, just don’t be surprised if you hear him blame catching the coronavirus and been out of the ring for 17 months by time this fight comes around. Really hope he can win, but if he doesn’t I hope he retires and I’ve told him that.

Hope this finally happens. Luke is more than a tough out for anyone and Garcia needs to cut his adult teeth.

Hopefully the GB and DAZN business people can finally get this one delivered. Could be a great fight to start the New Year.

Gamboa is a decorated and accomplished vet. What has Campbell ever done in his decade as a pro? He couldn't even win one of these dime a dozen crooked belts, despite repeated shots. This is a prospect facing a UK level bum.
