I liked Wilders championship run , he was my pick of the heavyweights . He was an awful boxer , he was gifted with a tall athletic frame and a sledgehammer for a right hand but where does he go from here .
His whole thing was being a brash ****y champion . He's no chance of getting the WBC back because Fury wont deal with him and AJ only wanted to fight him for the belt .
His prime is probably behind him and soon he'll lost the athleticism and ability to land his big shot and be getting KO'd by bums
Is he to retire and spend the rest of his days making wierd videos about egg timers and fingernails or does he fight on and risk trashing his once fearsome reputation with 0 chance of a title shot .

He's had his fair share of injuries and surgery over the years but he doesn't look finished or shot yet. He's got time to fight himself back in to to position.

But he needs to put down the LDBC script sheet and get his head together. Maybe realise where he may of gone wrong and try work on it.

He will be relevant as long as his right still has power, and they say power is the last thing to leave a boxer.

He could box till he is 40 tbh.

Timings Everything in boxing when one should have not been champion. Wilder lucked out he got in the spotlight when Vitali Klitschko was gone and AJ took on Wlad .

There’s now big units and heavy hitters coming in like Hrgovic, Ajagba , Mahkmudov, Yoka , Joyce, DDD these types of boxer punchers he has never fought . Wilder is far from the only tall puncher coming in these days . Let alone current Fury and AJ he has a steep,hill to prove . I’m still claiming Wilders chin is suspect and these type of fighters can get him out of there with just the right shot .

Talented, big HW's can get ANYONE out of there with "just the right shot" ... that is not an exclusive possibility to Wilder (remember Ruiz stopping AJ). I agree though that there is enough size and talent now at HW where it could happen to Wilder.

The point about Wilder's injuries over the years is spot on. If Fury refuses to honor fight III, I think Wilder would do well to remain active in the gym with perhaps one fight over the next year ... allowing the many nagging injuries to heal. Also allowing time to solidify his weight nearer 240 lbs., and doing much more 'attack strategy' and 'defensive' training when hurt during a fight.

If he does that, I think Wilder easily positions himself for a serious run at regaining the title (no matter who the top guys are). The punch will stay lethal until it isn't, and Wilder has a lot of 'Dog' in him. Definitely can continue having outstanding fights ... where a legendary punch or turn of events are always lurking around a corner. Boxing suspense and drama at it's best.

He may not have a belt, so he won't get the same money that was proposed in the past, however there are still many fights out there for him. He can EASILY make another $20m, so no reason for him to retire.

options for his next fight

Michael Hunter - American, free agent, won't ask for a lot of money and at the very least he's on that same level as the likes of povetkin and dillian whyte. I would love this fight.

Joseph Parker - His fight vs Junior Fa has been called off because Fa chickened out. They could schedule a fight for Jan-Feb. Pay them both in the $2-3m region, it would do at least 200k ppv buys on Fox (i'm assuming Wilder wouldnt be willing to fight on a matchroom/dazn card).

(it could well be Parker vs Hunter soon, but both guys would prefer a fight vs Wilder)

Helenius - crap fight, I don't rate Helenius, he's a big guy so can pull off the odd upset, but he's been knocked out by Washington, which means he is dog****. I think Wilder would make this fight because it's the type of thing he does.

Hrgovic - He would easily be available for jan-feb having just had a fairly easy fight. Would Wilder be interested? personally I doubt it.

Murat Gassiev - I like this fight a lot. Gassiev is unproven as a HW, but he's still respected enough for it to look good on Wilder's resume.

Otto Wallin - He has some profile since the Fury fight and would look good on the resume esp if wilder ko's him.

Ivan Dychko - 6 ft 9 bald monster looking to take Wilder's head off.



Wilder would set himself up well if he beats any of these guys barring Helenius. However it's likely he will fight Helenius as an in house **** pbc hw fight.
