Comments Thread For: Javier Fortuna: I Feel Like I'm Fighting Twice For My Title Shot

There is truth to that logic, as the Dominican southpaw returns to the ring this weekend. Fortuna will face Mexico's Antonio Lozada (40-4-1, 34KOs), in a 10-round lightweight fight live this Saturday on FS1 from a crowdless Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles.

Didnt Fortuna turn down the fight with Devin Haney? I would swear I read that somewhere.

Javier Fortuna knows he is a duck, but I rejoice in how karma has paid him for his cowardly political maneuvers around Devin Haney. Sadly, he may still get Jorge Linares for the WBC 'Diamond' lightweight title when Linares recovers from COVID ; and then the other coward Ryan Garcia is likely to face the winner and duck Haney for a little while longer.

I can't believe Haney didn't fight Fortuna instead of Gamboa! He had to know, or should've known, that Fortuna vs. Linares was not happening! Maybe nobody at DAZN told him?

This idiot should have fought Haney being #1 mandatory when he had his cgance instead of going Campbell route.

Let me guess...do you just make things up as you go or how exactly do you do it?
If I remember correctly Haney had to have surgery and this is the reason why the fight couldn't happen. So, if you are going to blame someone you might look elsewhere. And then the Linares fight didn't happen because Linares came down with Covid. So, please explain to me where this is Fortuna's fault.
You really think Haney has been this big dog going after the big dogs? Oh, wait...he did, he fought Gamboa. That is funny because the last time I checked Gamboa is been washed up.

As I have said before and I'll say it again even stronger after the Gamboa fight...I'm not sold on Haney yet. And his power is definitely questionable. Only time will tell but I'm not sold on that kid as of now.

No, that is not correct. They were suppose to fight and then Haney had to have shoulder surgery.

Except that...that idiot as you call him is not a witch doctor that could magically heal Haney's shoulder. In case you magically forgot the reason why they didn't fight was because Haney had to have shoulder surgery around that time.

Problem with Fortuna is he is very dangerous and guys like Haney and Davis do not want to risk their titles against this formidable opponent.

I think Haney SHOULD revisit this fight, it is a real test and Fortuna is dangerous with his Awkward Style

Fortuna ducked who? He was going to fight Campbell before this Pandemic happened
