Why Do UK Fighters go Train in Spain and Portugal?

So I was curious who Brook's trainer for the Crawford fight was and found out it was someone from Spain and the reason Ingle isn't training Brook this fight is because he has young kids at home and didn't want to risk it going to Spain. I know Brook is far from the lone UK boxer that goes to Spain to train and I know Whyte trains in Portugal. But my question is why? Usually fighters want to train where they can get good work in the gym and Spain/Portugal aren't exactly known for their boxing talent. Now, of course you can take training partners over there but what is the reason to train in those countries? Is it the weather? A little too cold in the UK opposed to those countries?

Just curious as you hear more and more fighters leave the UK to train in their surrounding countries.

its an excuse for a holiday. whenever one of these fighters does a 'warm weather' camp the alarm bells should start ringing.

To be fair it's not just boxers. A lot of track and field guys do a warm weather camp,
Some go as far as Australia.

Also taking yourself away from friends and family, i.e., no distractions.

If you've ever been to either country, you'll understand why.

The weather. Today its been grey and rained all day in Birmingham, England. At least half of all British days are grey.

Canary Islands (They are Spanish but offshore from the Sahara Desert) are minimum 70 degrees in November and mostly sunny.

I suppose it works for some boxers, and probably does not for others.

This notion? that the fighters are not being distracted in Spain is complete and utter nonsense,

When they are not training, they will be on the beach or knocking about around a bar restaurant.

Different ball game with other sports that go aboard 'Although, I have always thought it is a waste of resources' A smug thing to do.

What is the point of going away for a few weeks? Then moving elsewhere and acclimatizing again.
