Comments Thread For: Eddie Hearn: The Dream is One World Champion in Every Division

Eddie Hearn says he could spark worldwide interest in women's boxing with a plan to have undisputed world champions in every division by the end of 2021. Hearn believes it will be possible to organise a series of tournaments to unify the belts in each division, creating not only a memorable series of bouts but also raise the profile of all the champions.

    Bellend.

MMA doesn't even have one champion in every division because UFC champions are different from Bellator's. The only difference is that UFC is more established/popular hence the misconception. And the only reason UFC is successful is because it commercialised the sport fight and made it mainstream.

Hearn doesn't have the cache and he's going to go bankrupt whilst trying because this is akin to building castles in the air. The politics in boxing just too complex for it to happen. PBC tried it and made HBO go bust.

I dont care about women's boxing. Its has been around for a hundred years or so.

I just dont like to see women get punched. Its distasteful to me.

We know it's never going to be one world champion in each division in Men's boxing, but can we get one champion in each organization? Can we get rid of the "gold," "regular," "interim," and "franchise" champions? Is that too much to ask?

Put the kettle on! Womens boxing is being forced on us with very few decent girls who only fight two minute rounds. If some like it then no problem but when you see sky/Hearn putting girls in two minute rounds for world titles and so many decent records on paper contest such weak 'world titles' all's it shows is Sky has been taken over by political correctness and he gets to pay these girls what they deserve for two minute rounds, very little with maybe the exception of Taylor. Tonight there is a brave English welterweight fighting the world P4P best fighter in the world and needs all the fans behind and all the support he can get and should have and Sky/Hearn and the very odd Adam Smith blank it and peddle this shyte .When Sky call themselves the home of boxing they should be ashamed!!!

Boxing will never be the UFC because when we talk about boxing we say 'boxing' (general sport) while when we talk MMA we say UFC (brand, promotion). MMA is affiliated with a brand, a promotion, which is the UFC. The preeminent organization in all of MMA. Similar to the NFL or the NBA. The NFL and NBA are synonymous with the general sports of American football and basketball. Boxing will never have that. It's too international. It's like saying 'man I really wish all the best soccer players played in one country's league instead of like five to seven countries leagues'. It will never happen. The sport is too global to be controlled in that way.
