Jose Rivera vs........... ??

I just have to say that I have read Alcine's story on *********.com and I felt, as Jose's trainer, that I should reply. The thing is this. Since Jose's fight, other than the fact that I read on *********.com that Alcine won an eliminator, there has been no offer to Jose from anybody to fight him. If he has to fight Alcine instead of one of the better, more well known guys in the division then I am sure Jose will have no problem with that. He just wants to try and make the biggest and best fights happen that he can for himself and for boxing. So of course he is going to call out the biggest names to show that he is more than willing to fight other recognizable names. The fact of the matter is that outside of Canada nobody knows who Joachime is and this is why you will not ever hear a Mayweather or a Rivera, Mosley,Oscar, Margarito or any of the bigger names call him out. If we did that people all over the world would say "Joachime who?"

So if it comes down to it Jose will fight anybody in the world, he has made that very, very clear. If you are a WBA champion at this point in time of course you are going to want to fight the guys that people would really respect you for beating, if you did beat them. Jose and Margarito is a potentially great fight that anybody out there that loves boxing would be ecstatic to see. I myself would love to see Jose get that fight because that is a fight that would showcase all he has to offer, kind of like the Terra Garia fight did, because Margarito would force the fight and bring the best of Jose to the forefront.

Anyway, it is kind of crazy to imply someone doesn't want to fight you when, first of all, the guy wouldn't know Joachime if Joachime walked up to him and stepped on his foot and second, you can't avoid someone that has never been offered to you. So Margarito, or someone, call Jose's people and stake your claim. The guy is waiting to fight, he wants to fight. He's just waiting to see who it is.

If you're Joachim Alcine, unknown and #1 contender, you start talking in the press so ppl start talking about you. He can't just stay where he is and don't say a word. He's like every boxer who is in his position, he see the crack in the wall and on the other side is where the money is. He fought his last fight on ESPN to get some exposure. At this point, thats all he could do. Calling people higher than him is all natural.

I agree Ice!!! I'm still waiting to see if Margarito takes the fight with Rivera. I would go to that fight live if it was made & if Margarito can't secure a fight at Welter he should make this fight.

Its kind of crazy.. we can't fight a Margarito or a Spinks because THE WBA says we have to fight some guy they mandate? Boxing is a funny game sometimes. You have guys #2 by the WBA that aren't even in the WBC top THIRTY!!
