Lol no. He beat a shot Groves in a tournament that none of the other champs were in.

You didn't like the Caleb Plant fight and now obviously you don't think much of Callum Smith either.

So who could Canelo face that you wouldn't hate on?

Can’t fault Canelo for fighting Smith. Yes he is the weaker of the two between Plant, but Smith is the man to beat right now at 168.

Still, I'd love to see Canelo with someone whos young, strong and can move. ie a Andrade
Canelo now fights at 168 and can no longer comfortably make 168. He needs a real world title at 168 not the jr title he won from Fielding. Smith is a good champion at 168 so that is why he is fighting Smith and not Andrade. Of course the fight has not been made official yet but I hope Canelo does fight Smith. I think it is the perfect fight for Canelo at this time. If Canelo beats Smith he could start fighting the other 168 pound champions. Meanwhile Andrade could try to beat Saunders and become a 168 pound champion.

Sorry. I mean to say Canelo has trouble making 160 now.

I did like the Plant fight. Plant or Benavidez are top at 168. Been saying that since Plant beat Uzi.

Smith is rated number 1 at 168 by boxrec and Ring so how could Canelo fighting the number 1 guy and the champion at 168 be a bad fight? Smith is who he should have fought instead of Fielding. Smith is very tall with a long reach and he can box and punch. if this is Canelo's next fight that is great and I look forward to it.
Smith is rated no.1 by TBRB, ESPN, Boxrec, and is the RING champion

You don’t get more consensus than that

Yea he struggled with Ryder but his other wins especially the demolition of Groves lean more towards an off night

Plant on the other hand has looked mediocre against nobodies. I really can’t see how Plant is a better option..
