Comments Thread For: Yildirim Still Hopes Canelo Clash For Vacant WBC Title Comes Off

Super middleweight contender Avni Yildirim is still hoping to face Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, who last week became a free agent. Canelo reached an agreement in his widely reported lawsuit, where he was able to secure a release from his promotional deal with Golden Boy Promotions and a release from his network deal with DAZN.

So the WBC ordered this fight in order to establish a champion. Canelo has yet to say he is for sure fighting for this belt in his next fight. If he does not fight for this belt and instead decides to fight a bigger name, does the WBC still allow Yildirim to fight for the belt or do they hold it hostage for Canelo and make up some excuse why Yildirim cannot fight for it?

Perfect example of why belts mean nothing and calling yourself a champ proves nothing. The rightful owner of the belt is Benavidez and he has yet to be dethroned from it. (Debelted?) I get that he missed weight and before that he was partying with Chavez Jr but he is still the last to hold it and he should be allowed to fight for it again. Put him with Yildirim and then maybe Canelo can fight the winner of that outcome. If Yildirim manages to upset Benavidez then that should make the fight much more enticing, if Benavidez beats Yildirim then that would help build up the fight with Canelo.

I do not see how the WBC makes more money by having Canelo hold the belt versus Benavidez. They still collect their fee's right?

This is the LDBC’s magic! They went all gun-ho when they knew Yildirim was a PBC fighter. Further, they were excited that Haymon would outbid “someone” else to stage Canelo vs Yildirim on PBC.

Haymon has a whole stable for Canelo as options. The LDBC and Haymon know that Canelo is the HNIC! Now the LDBC have no choice but to bow down to Mexican Bidness because Haymon commands it!

A purse bid for the contest has been postponed several times due to Canelo's legal situation.
Last time it was postponed for November 6th. What happened with that date?

You’re not understanding that Haymon controls the WBC 168 landscape. Yildirim is a PBC fighter. Haymon can easily make Canelo vs Yildirim and then a unification against Plant. Then the winner of that faces Benavidez and then the winner of that fights Charlo.

Haymon is building his foundation on Mexican Bidness! It’s the right thing to do because Canelo is the HNIC!

I just don't get it.....nobody wants to see this ****** fight anyway. Most knew Yildrim was a stay-busy fight for Canelo anyway.

I wish he'd just move on. We want to see the biggest fights and Yildrim isn't on that list. I hate it for him but he and his team may need to look at moving on. They know how the WBC is. Smh

No disrespect to Yldirim but I'm praying this **** fight doesn't happen.

Plant is 100x times a better opponent.

Am Mexican and Canelo fan, but ain’t paying Ppv $ to see him Ko Yildirim! No competition, excitement, or buzz for what would b historically huge mismatch....almost as bad as Davis v Lsc.
