After going 12 rounds with Spence, Mikey dropped and won a decision against Vargas. He's now better acclimated to the weight. Mikey still isn't a natural welterweight though. I was just pointing out how Mikey says he's determined to become a champ at 147, but never mentions fighting Crawford.

Mikey is not a better fight than Spence/Porter/Thurman. My point is that Spence, Porter, Thurman, Danny, and Mikey all complain that Crawford hasn't done anything at WW and he needs to earn a shot at them, but in the time that Crawford has held his WW belt, they've all fought at least one opponent that was clearly below Crawford's level & beltless.

Just to add to that - Manny’s playbook is to fight guys coming off losses (Rios, Broner, Mathysse, Mosley, Clottey) or catchweights (Cotto, Margarito, Oscar, Marquez) or guys that are irrelevant (Horn, Algieri, and the next guy).

Thurman fought Josesito Lopez before fighting Pac. Spence fought Mikey coming up from Lightweight before fighting Porter. Danny fought two back to back tomato cans before this Spence fight.

They fight weak competition between fighting each other.

So basically, they're saying Crawford hasn't proven himself enough to fight them, but he's too good to be their inbetween fight.

They discredit Crawford while promoting fights against opponents that are universally ranked well below Crawford.
