i like your list. good list. personally, i would take douglas/williams off the list because i didn't think it was a horrible beatdown that tyson was sustaining until he got TKO'd - even though he was losing. for tyson, the few rounds that zouski spent with him before the ref stopped the fight proved that zouski could sustain a beating. i mean, he wasn't afraid of tyson and actually caught tyson with a few good punches. that was the first time i actually saw someone who didn't seem completely afraid of iron mike.Frazier Ali I
Douglas Tyson
Golota Bowe II
Tyson Tillis
Pacquiao Barrera
Robinson Lamotta 2-6
Vitali Williams
Lewis Tyson
I give these guys who hung in alot of credit though, game guys, credit to the sport, true professionals.
what about tyson/williams? williams was getting an ass kicking for the most part until he kicked in a bit of stamina.
now, if you're talking about pure beatdowns that lasted more than a few rounds, that's a whole different story.
jack johnson purposely made his opponents suffer defeats by late TKO's instead of knocking them out right away.
yeah, that was one brave mother****er. to be able to take that beating from dempsey, just from the first round alone, and fight for more than a couple of rounds afterwards, that was just AMAZING!I think Jess Willard coming out for the 2nd round against Jack Dempsey must be the most bravest personal act in the history of boxing.
some recent fights that spring to mind.........
- byrd/w klitschko 1 & 2 - he took a beating in both and kept trying to fight back.
- v klitschko/sanders - corrie was done from round 3 or 4 onwards. vitali just took his time with him. i remember sanders saying that during that fight, he was bleeding from his mouth, nose, eyes, and ears! damn!!!
it's too early for me to be thinking right now, but i'll come back with some prime examples.
good thread by the way!Comment

Muhammad Ali- Ernie Terell. For 15 rounds Ali just tortured Terell. Ali would would hit him with combos and then intentionally back off, yelling "whats my name?". Terell had refused to call him Muhammad Ali and instead kept calling him Clay. Thus resulting in a 15 round brutalizing.Comment

** That was all marketing hype by Ali. Terrell and Ali were good friends, but Ali had a mean streak in the ring and Terrell injured his eye early in the fight and couldn't make a fight of it.Originally posted by boskiMuhammad Ali- Ernie Terell.
