I live in Texas, I’m a retired LEO in Texas. The code is under the transportation code and falls under FSGI which can be a class c to a class a misd depending on damages. The penalties are increased if injuries are suffered at the scene and it can move into felonious territory. Any crime that is punishable up to one year is a class A misd. Anything above that is a SJF to a F3, F2, to a F1. Start with TTC550.022

Actually I have the updated traffic code, penal code, health and safety code, etc etc and I looked it up on that book every LEO has to buy every new session due to state/federal updates. When you retire in the state of Texas you keep your commission through the agency you retire from. I still carry LEO credentials which means I have to qualify twice a year with my agency. And we are covered by HR218 which was signed into law. But hey, you are free to believe whatever you like.
