He trained Wilder well enough for Wilder to become WBC heavyweight champion and win over 50 fights before losing. Breland was good enough to be both an amateur and pro champion. Breland is not the failure you are sating he is?
Mark Breland is an Overrated and Useless Trainer

What advice did he give D before throwing that towel? Quietest ****ing corner I ever seen a losing champion sit in.
So, y'all got some moral reason to keep Mark? TF goof is it? He going to beat Fury with his loyalty is he?
This is where common sense separates the crowd. In a corner where you have a champ being demolished it's best to tell him where he is going wrong and how to change the situation. Not play quiet as a mouse. I agree with Wilder firing Breland. I also believe Jay Deas shouldve been fired. I dont buy into the conspiracies but change is good when your too comfortable in the corner. Good postComment

My post was explaining why people care, I agree no one would've cared if he dropped Breland before the fight. Refer to my first post as to why people care.He was never known for having improved Wilder. Prior to this fight, after this fight, when has anyone, even his fans, claimed Wilder can box? Whose job is it?
Two chances to prep Wilder for Fury, Wilder won none, and was never prepared.

Hell, that's fair
edit - Actually, re-reading, how is that not addressed by my closing statement? A moral debate is no reason to keep a trainer.Last edited by Marchegiano; 11-04-2020, 11:57 AM.Comment

breland is a piece of sh%tI'll be the first to say it.
For a supposedly "legendary" amateur/trainer, dude failed to teach Wilder how to box after all those years.
Had no advice for Wilder in both Fury fights while Wilder was getting his ass kicked.
Couldn't even give Wilder a motivational speech in the corner like Virgil or Atlas.
Dude seems like one of those quiet snake/uncle tom types. Glad Wilder fired his slimey ass.

Guy is no good.
you just made it sound like breland is a scumbag piece of sh%t tbh LMAOYou can't teach someone who doesn't want to listen. Breland said Wilder would often just do his own thing. Probably because he was so in love with his power.
You think a soft spoken guy like Breland is going to give some fake 'look at me' Teddy Atlas speech? Come on...Comment

i agree. not with the snake part though. but wilder doesn't even know what a jab is. his trainers have to take a large chunk of blame for that. i wish he will fire jay deas too. he needs to join the reynoso team. guys like hunter or atlas wont do wilder any good. reynoso or robert garcia.Comment

Well he did kind of put Wilder on blast for saying stuff like that but it almost seemed like he was just frustrated and about to give up on him, which is a pretty bad look for a trainer but I don't know what the hell went on in those camps. Maybe Breland was too critical and Deontay preferred to work almost exclusively with yes man, Barney Gumble looking Jay Deas. I'd always see him holding the pads for Wilder doing a horrible Fury impression while Deontay worked on his spinorama moves.
I'm not sure how they came together exactly, but on paper it probably seemed like a good fit. An ex fighter trainer, who was an Olympian that had a moderately successful though unremarkable pro career. Their body dimensions seem almost identical too if you enlarged Breland. Not that it's important to be anything like your trainer, but I imagine he at least taught him a thing or two about how he could take advantage of his reach. They are very similar though polar opposite at the same time in personality and the fact that Breland was a more successful amateur, where Wilder had a more successful though questionable at times pro career.
I don't know why I typed that all up since you obviously don't give a ****, but I've been up all night watching this election unfold so might as well over analyze and speculate about something else for a chance of pace.Comment

You are WAY off base when talking about Mark. The man is one of the best people I know in this game, great person, does his job. A snake????? Nah, man, NO. Stop this. You are way, way off base.I'll be the first to say it.
