Santa Cruz was bound to lose whenever his handlers were going to put him in a the ring with a actual young champion for that $$$

Santa Cruz gets way too much credit for winning 4 division titles while all were vacant meaning he never fought a actual champion in that division to win the belt. He rarely fought any of the best competition in 40 fights he fought about 3 fighters who were good......Frampton,mares and now Tank.

Santa Cruz been riding on training wheels until last Saturday

Take 2020 off and enjoy spending money and vacationing.

Get back in the gym in mid to late January and jist touch the bag and mitts and skip rope.

No sparring until maybe june . He can still compete and make money .

Id take a fight in maybe august if i was him and move back down . Fight rigo , donaire or another name guy who he is even with . Only fight big names ,no more young hungry dudes .

Ironically, this is the best “win” in Tanks career Not that it really did much for Tank since this is what was supposed to happen with a largely ineffective puncher since arriving at 26.

I’ve always been huge on Tank and probably always will be, but he’s been fighting no hopers for a minute.

Tank has been a champ for about 4 years now. Let that sink in. Avoided Loma and has managed to fight zero other champs. Refused the Farmer fights iirc. Berchelt’s name never comes up.

I think he beats all these guys btw minus Loma but it’s getting old.

Leo, you're all class. I hope you make a full recovery and have no long term damage from this.

Not sure what fight others saw but I had Leo winning the 6th round until that skillful uppercut stole all consciousness.

That would have made the fight 3 rounds a piece on my card. So where is this silly banter coming from acting like Leo didn’t belong in that ring. Obviously just more excuses to take the value of the win from Tank.

Leo fought a great fight and touched Tank up nicely during it. He is a great guy with nothing to be ashamed of and I hope he doesn’t quit after just one knock out loss. There are still many good lucrative fights for him. Would love to see him fight Loma @130, Warrington, GRJ, Alvarado, Diaz. The way he fought Saturday those are all very competitive if not winnable fights. Berchelt would be good down the line if his chin proves sturdy.

But Mares got dropped by Gonzales and wasn’t KO’d coming off the performance. Nothing says Leo will not be ready for new wins given his heart, work ethic and talent. Every fighter can’t do what Tank did to him in round 6. Every fighter will not carry him that fast.

I like Santa Cruz but lost a bit of respect for him when he refused to give Frampton the trilogy after promising the trilogy. He went back on his word. Took his W and ran with it, despite being 1-1.

Plus he’s usually a very boring fighter usually, but sa nice guy. Hope he’s made a lot of money. After that kind of knockout, it often happens again and again, and I wouldn’t want to see that because he seems a good guy. Wouldn’t blame him if he retires and enjoys what he’s earned.

Leo fought with heart and showed no fear. He dared to be great and it almost paid off.
It seemed to me that tank didn’t react well when Leo landed , and like Leo said tank wasn’t hurt by his punches but he sure didn’t like it. Tank kept complaining and looking to the red. It will be interesting to see how tank handles the heavy hitters. Thank you for a great fight Leo.
