Ryan Garcia or Devin Haney need to defeat Tank Davis

I don’t see Tank fighting above 135, but I can see Ryan Garcia and Haney fight above lightweight. They need to take Tank off of the conversation.

I don’t see Teofimo Lopez staying at 135 anymore. I don’t care what he recently said. For the past two years, he’s mentioned that he’s struggled making 135 and that he’s been holding on to the weight for the Loma opportunity. The best version of Teofimo Lopez will be at 140 pounds.

This leaves us with Haney, Tank, and Ryan Garcia. For the sake of the future of the sport, I hope that either Garcia or Haney eliminate Tank Davis. Tank will be limited to 135 pounds, but the other two young stars will go beyond that weight. Financially, Tank vs Ryan Garcia is the fight to make for a PPV, but if Haney wants more of that star power, then he needs to fight Tank. I don’t want to see any marinating fights. Which of the two do you think will get the Tank fight next?

Neither. I expect the next fight to be Tevin Farmer to try and get another highlight ko.

After a big win very rarely do we see the next fight be a big fight like you are suggesting.

I would like to see him fight the winner of Berchelt/Valdez at 130 after the cash grab.

Santa Cruz wasn’t even a big win to be honest. If he wants his next fight to be PPV, then he needs someone to draw numbers with him.

I don’t know how it isn’t a solid win but we can agree to disagree.

I get your point but there is history between tank and Farmer and it’s in house.

I would be very surprised if Tank’s 1st title defense is a split promotional ppv.

Farmer or Gary Russell Jr. seem to be the most likely choices.

Davis will turn 26 this November and he has power, he could definitely fight above 135 eventually. Haney is good but I'm not completely sold on Ryan Garcia - I like the guy but I have to be honest. The best young prospects are Teofimo Lopez (135-147 perhaps??) and Virgil Ortiz (147-160+ perhaps).

Listening to Keith idec interview on Sirius right now and he said he thinks Russell is next for Tank at 130 if Russell is “realistic” with his financial request.
