Comments Thread For: Gervonta Davis Will Be A PPV Attraction Moving Forward, Ellerbe Says

Gervonta Davis is making his maiden voyage into the pay-per-view market, and boxing fans better get used to it, because it's the beginning of a new era and platform for the Baltimore boxer. Fight fans will have to pay to watch Tank's foray into future wars, according to Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe.

Yep , there's sure got to be a different route in these troubled times. And if it has got to be PPV then it should be only the very best fights and not the quality that some promoters in the UK get away with.

PPV can still work if you stack the cards, i.e. Charlo PPV! I really want to watch this fight tonight, but I really don't wanna pay $75! Why couldn't Prograis be fighting Hooker on this card, or why couldn't he be fighting Barrios for his title?

Totally delusional! Would never spend $ on a Ppv main event mismatch with 7-1 odds!! Grow a pair and fight Lopez, Loma, or Haney - dare to b great and stop cherry-pickn smaller, past it , feather-fisted fighters. Stop protecting that 0. Next Ppv star - not with that “duh” personality and what seems to b a speech impediment!

dont know if “Charlo” Ppv worked if they are embarrassed to release #s.

Ive said it 100 times before, "elite level" boxing CANNOT be supported by traditional advertising, commercials, etc. Its not like football, baseball, etc where you have a pretty good idea how long the event will last. A boxing main event can end in the 1st round. No way to guarantee advertisers their spots will be seen.

It DOES work on lower level events, such as ESPN, Telemundo, and the Fox cards. But not for the top level shows. And if not for covid, and them really needing some content, ESPN would have never spent the money for Loma-Lopez

                  Doesn't seem sustainable.

Granted any fight can be PPV if your costs are lower than your revenue. But it seems like a bad move for overall moral to Tank fans specifically, but boxing fans in general too.

There are lotsa potential PPV fights for Tank right now (Teo, Loma, Ryan, Devin or hell LSC II if today is compelling), but mostly they don't seem ripe quite yet or that they make sense or could make sense with all the players involved in the near future.

Yeah tonight's fight is a shocker of a ppv.

I'd rather just pocket the ppv money and just make a few bets tbh.
