Wilder would win by KO. Boxing has improved a lot since over the last 120 years. The champion of the world is champion of a world with many times the population of Langford's time and boxing is now a world wide sport not just the USA and Europe. The heavyweight champ today makes millions every fight and money brings in talent. Langford didn't make much money and no boxer made all that much money in 1902 or whenever Langford was in his prime. Langford weighed about 160 and was 5 foot 7 inches tall compared to 6 foot 7 inches tall and 220 pounds for Wilder.Comment

Wilder would win easily . He would need about 40 fights to reach a proper ring experience to do it . Wilder can defeat many past time guys but he’s just came into his peak recently even if his punch count has gone down even more in current years .Last edited by REDEEMER; 10-25-2020, 04:30 PM.Comment

Bolio, you may maybe right, but you may not. Of curse Langford at 5'6"would only come up to Wilder's shoulder, but was a ferocious body puncher. I'm not sure that Wilder is enough of a boxer to deal with Langford, and Sam had a terrific chin. The RING list has him as #2 on it's greatest punchers of the past 100 years. And tenacious, he wasn't called "The Boston Tar-Baby" for nothing... By the way the term is NOT a derogatory slur as the ignorant seem to think. Nothing to do with race or colour. It originate in one of the states which had many tar pits, and became the term for someone who is too sticky and adhesive to get rid of. And that was the way Langford got "dug-in" to a fight. He weighed 185 lbs as a heavyweight.Wilder would win by KO. Boxing has improved a lot since over the last 120 years. As to the number of boxers today versus then, I DO know that in New York City alone, in those days, there were 20 times the number of fighters as there are today in the whole United States. The rest of the world is not that relevant in this discussion, which is about Wilder and Langford.
Personally, I could not say who would win, Wilder has a hell of a punch-as did Langford_ and Langford had a hell of a chin, which wilder does not, but in boxing, anything can happen...Comment
