Eastern European Fighters are Systematically Overrated

    Someone had to say it.

Many of us only thought Loma would win because he's Ukrainian. Me included. I do the same thing with Cuban fighters. It's a bias.

Can we stop with this already. The Eastern Bloc produces great fighters, Ukraine specifically. But as fans there comes a time when you need to have enough introspection to see when you're being a fanatic. When it's an identity thing.

This also reflects when the fighter loses. It's like you lose touch with reality. The fighter can't possibly have lost, so you come up with the most dubious excuses. All to preserve your ego. And the scariest part is that you start believing them.

Some people want to be able to say that someone who looks like them is dominant in a masculine sport like boxing. It helps them deal better with their own insecurities. Others don't like seeing a certain group being dominant, and want to see someone dominate them to alleviate their insecurities.

If you're in any of these two groups, STOP WATCHING BOXING RIGHT NOW. You are polluting the debate. We're trying to debate who has the better footwork. Who has the best technique. The most heart. How potential match ups would play out and clash of styles. Not who is ducking who to allow you to call a warrior who does what you would never have the guts to do a "coward".

Learn to appreciate the sport for what it is, whether the guy winning is white black blue or green. Whether the guy who looks like you wins or losses, it doesn't change a thing to your life. If you're a weak now, you will still be a weak whether Golovkin or Lomachenko wins or losses. Do something with your life instead.

I didn't pick Loma because he was Ukrainian.

Who picks fighters because of where they’re born?

If you overrate boxers because they are Cuban or Ukrainian that is your mistake alone so don't blame anyone else. Watch them fight first and rate them by what you see. This stuff you say about fans rating boxers so high because the boxers look like them or are the same as them is BS. Loma, GGG and Usyk are great fighters who did great things in the ring and they are admired by many fans of all races and countries. All of them are rated as among the 10 best pound for pound boxers in the world by every important ranking place.Do you think the guys who rate boxers for Ring magazine, ESPN, Boxrec and Boxing Scene are from Russia or Ukraine? News flash, they aren't. Rate boxers however you want but don't tell us how to rate them.

They are not overrated, they just get big fights when they are past their prime.

They are overhyped that’s for dàmn sure!

Golovkin was touted as the next big thing, that he could KO an elephant and go toe to toe with Superman himself!

There was talks that he could go up to 175 and knock out a prime Sergey Kovalev just cuz of a sparring rumor but yet he didn’t make that into a reality and settled for barely getting by his first real match up and then arguably losing his two biggest fighters against a career super welterweight!

Lomachenko was praised as the next Willie Pep and had defense and footwork like Pernell Whitaker and was argued that he could beat prime Floyd Mayweather at 130-135!

He got special privileges by fighting for a title shot in his second and third fights, beat guys on long lay offs or past prime opponents, and struggled mightly against B- level opponents in his 3rd weight class and still was praised as the next best thing since fresh air!

Loma and Golovkin out of all the EE’s was the most hyped and failed to live up to lofty expectations!

            Paulie was wrong

GGG is neither from Ukraine or Russia. He is Kazakh.

How is it any different from black fans or mexican fans that only route for their race....

if anything black fans tned ot be the most ethnic based. I think alot of black boxing fans see the rise of EE boxing as a threat, because they view themselves as more masculine, stronger, superior athletes so when white men come and start to dominate they get scarred as evident in this thread
