Is Povetkin truly the last old school Heavyweight?

    Another Povetkin thread, but seriously

he seems like he is really the last of the old school heavyweight, the mike tyson hitters in an era dominated by super heavyweights. an era where you have to be like 6f5,6f6 to succeed, he's the one still ****ing with bigger dudes and knocking them out.

I don't think you will see another one like him because up in coming HW's are going to be mininum 6f5....anything shorter than that is a risk, they will go to the super cruiser (whatever the **** it's called)

        Yeah

Fighters the same size as him but from a newer generation are boiling down to cruiserweight

If he was fresh out of the Olympics today, the chances are he would be starting his pro career at cruiserweight

You will still get smaller fighters going to heavyweight.

Because that's where the money is.

Drug cheat, but I'd still live to see him fight any of the following Ortiz, Ruiz Jr, Usyk, Parker, Hrgovic, Hunter II. Keep Pov away from Fury, we know Tyson will box him to a wide UD. A fight with Wilder would also be fun.

I have noticed the bigger heavyweights have got ? The more generic their characters have become 'I think there will be a second wave of old school heavyweights going forward'.

Anything below 6"5 and 235 pounds is from my perspective is a classical physique heavyweight.

I am all for the cruiser-weight division being moved back to 190 pounds 'But I dislike the new WBC super cruiser-weight division'.

Note: I suggested awhile back, that the cruiser-weight division should go back to 190 pounds.

He gets too much respect on this forum as a repeated PED user.

A 6”4 fighter is not a small heavyweight, anything below the 6”4 mark is these days . I would make exceptions like a Ruiz who weighs over 250 and is around 6”0 he’s not really a small heavyweight ,there are no height divisions .

Check out a Vlad Sirenko or Sonny Conto who stand just under or just about 6”4 they are inside fighters with power coming up . We don’t know how Gassiev will effect the division either .

                    Nope.

                    Plenty out there.

Just currently dominated by large fighters.
