i’ve only read about 1 athlete who was really sick. Former NHL hockey player George Laraque. He is still in great shape & said he runs 10miles a day as he was training for a marathon. He said he got so sick he couldn’t get out of bed to brush his teeth. He recovered but it hit him extremely hard.

Yeah, i mean, flu can be like that. He might be blood type A or something, that makes you more vulnerable maybe. But if he wasn't hospitalised then they wouldn't call it severe. I can't think of an athlete like that. Clearly conditioning has some protective effects. Some of these guys aint even got a sniffle.
