Comments Thread For: Canelo Lawsuit: Contracts And Statement Of Arbitration Ordered By Court

Saul Canelo' Alvarez remains in search of answers regarding the language in the contract existing between his promoter and broadcast partner. By Monday, the courtroom overseeing their multimillion-dollar lawsuit will have that information. It was a good week for Alvarez's attorneys, who saw a ruling in their favor regarding its Notice of Related Civil Cases filing, requesting for the two existing complaints in this ongoing legal battle to be heard in the same courtroom.

      Excellent round 3 by Canelo!

In round 1 he laid down a hard counter to DAZN/Goldenboy and had them rocked!

      Round 2

DAZN/Goldenboy responded with sneaky counters to the bread basked and put Canelo on the canvass!

      Round 3

      Canelo
Comes out firing and eventually hurts DAZN/Goldenboy an puts them down for an 8 count!

      Round 4
      TBC

There was no way Canelo was going to uphold his end of the deal. For 35 million Canelo would have to fight top fighters every fight that was never going to happen. Canelo wants mostly easy fights. Canelo/GB should have gone to showtime PPV where he could fight whoever he wants. Canelo is not P4P king he is not the best fighter at any weight class.

I don’t understand why fans continue to bring up “$35 mil” in almost every post relating to the lawsuit. There’s not even a narrative that Canelo has pursued “$35 mil” during this pandemic. That’s just various industry and fans whom hate Canelo bring that up to confuse readers on purpose or they simply don’t understand the circumstances.

Canelo agreed to a 30% cut for a “premier fight.” Offers were sent to CHAMPIONS in BJS and Smith. DAZN “felt” they had the right to dismiss these Championship fights as “premier” which is obviously trolling. What were DAZN’s plan for Canelo fights before signing with them? Since when is a Championship fight not a premier fight if it particularly includes Canelo Alvarez who is the sport’s top draw...

This is why claims for “fraud” among other things is warranted because exactly what is Canelo to expect if he can’t get approvals for the fight for even a 30% cut against CHAMPIONS. Hearn knew all this which is why he caused problems. Why give GBP traction when Matchroom is in the deep with its own metrics as well.

BJS is fighting in December. All DAZN had to do was green light the 30% reduction for this but they didn’t. DAZN didn’t even counter headlines to say 40% in the middle. Instead they wanted to offer non-risk benefits for themselves and offer “equity.”

At least the court will now decide to REVIEW the contracts from all parties and see if Canelo has a right for partial claim which I believe he will. Canelo won’t get the full $280mil etc.. that’s just thrown so that DAZN and the court can settle for Theoritical earnings damage in 2020 WHILE GETTING Canelo out of his contract with DAZN. That’s the best scenario for everyone.

Parties should’ve agreed to 40% in the middle while contracting external consultants to approve “Premier fights.”

It's DAZN's own fault they are in this situation. And GBP's. DAZN is offering crazy money no one would turn down per random ass fight & GBP kept Canelo out of the specifics of what he was actually required to do.

To me Canelo is the guy being fooked over here even if he was making $35M per fight before they tried to fook him over.

I mean all I hear about when a fighter signed a deal is how he signed the deal & should accept it til it's over. Shoe is on the other foot this time when the network isn't wanting to abide by the signed deal & somehow to some of you it's still the boxers fault.

canelo doesn’t have a contract with dazn, gbp does. and that’s why he won’t get his money but he’ll be free from both.

For the umpteenth time. DAZN revenues come from subscriptions and have nothing to do with gate receipts and sponsorship money. The latter is a revenue split between Canelo and Golden Boy. DAZN is withholding money because they want Canelo to fight "premium" fights, and NOT because of the pandemic. DAZN defines premium fights are a fight with GGG, old Oscar De La Hoya, and a couple of MMA fights. DAZN refuses to live up to their contract even if Canelo fights any champion on the planet, including Charlo, Beterbiev, any of the 168 lbs champions, or even Anthony Joshua.

DAZN is an embarrassment to boxing, not to mention De La Hoya and Golden Boy, who has been double-dealing from from the outset.

Look folks, hate Canelo all you want, but at least get your facts straight. Some of these posts lack any human thought and are an embarrassment to those who post such drivel.

Great post! I think anyone who accepts equity in DAZN instead of cash money would be crazy. DAZN streams soccer and other sports as well as boxing, but all of these sports have limited the number of events, so I imagine DAZN subscriptions are in the toilet.
