How come Vergil Ortiz Jr isn't mentioned like the others?

It seems that all we hear about is Ryan Garcia. Deven Haney, Tank Davis. Shakur Stevenson, and Teo. What about Vergil Ortiz Jr? Dela Hoya said that he was the future of boxing but for some reason he seems to fly under the radar when compared to the others. His quality of opponents have been no worse that the other young guns in the boxing game.

    I like this kid.

Your right and funny thing is out of a those guys Vergil is better except for maybe Lopez ofcourse who just got that big win but Vergil is a beast he’s on a collision course with Spence and Crawford.

I think he's solid, but he hasn't really been out there in interviews, etc.

He has to do better job of self-marketing.

He's definitely not been sold & hyped as much as other highly thought of prospects &/or young title holders. So a lot of it lies on GBP. Although in fairness GBP has in recent months done a better job for him.

I'd also suggest Vergil himself is to blame somewhat as he's a more chill & reserved guy despite the action & fun he brings to the ring. These other cats are social media whoring their own name 100x more than Vergil does.

I hear about him about as much as Stevenson. Those other guys are talkers and Twitter finger types is the main reason I think.

He's one of those guys with so few fights who is mature like a guy with many more fights than he has. Exciting and clearly can make a big name for himself. It may sound simple but it's true - he always inflicts serious pain on his opponents.

Ryan has a massive following. He’s a fighter who’s insta/youtube famous. The other guys are famous for being fighters. Very diff with Garcia

Everyone else is a world champ except Ortiz. That’s why. He’s a young stud in a glamor division with p4p guys and huge names in it. He’s going to have to earn it as hard as Teo had to

Well they're hyped more because there's a whole medley of fights that can happen between Teo, Garcia, Haney, Shakur and Tank. Vergil's at 147 so he's not lumped in with them based on him being at least 2 divisions higher. Same thing goes with Ennis.
