Comments Thread For: Mayweather: There's Too Many Belts; WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO, My Company Must Clean This Sh-t Up

By Keith Idec - Floyd Mayweather admitted Wednesday night that his promotional company is at least partially responsible for one of boxing's most prominent problems. The retired superstar blamed the IBF, WBA, WBC, WBO and, to a lesser degree, Mayweather Promotions for there being entirely too many champions in the sport. "I ain't knocking no fighter" "ain't no such thing as a super champion"

Well, seeing as how lopez has the real WBA it's safe to say tank isn't a real "regular champion" his title was some vacant interim bullshgt

Devin Haneys WBC was basically handed to him seeing as how lomachenko actually fought for it and won it off of someone.

Both Haney and Tank were gifted belts by basically having to beat scrubs in interim fights.

It's the organizations faults but Floyd is clearly glossing over the fact that his fighter has benefited from this nonsense. Not that anyone really recognizes Tank, Romero, or Haney as the legitimate WBC & WBA champs but the fact that they can call themselves champions is sad

One champion and one intern champion per division is all we need . No confusion best have to fight the best in order to become champions. Better fights get made better display of skill

Wish Floyd would just buy out the organizations and make it one champion per division

So did Haney have to pay this fee when he received that belt at first?

There’s too many belts in boxing. I’m going to fix this by introducing my own range of belts

Yes it is but it's good business as well. The favoritism is the problem 🥊

"Sanctioning organizations typically take 3 percent from the purses of champions and challengers when he or she competes for one of its titles. The IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO generally charge promoters a flat fee for sanctioning title fights as well.

Those sanctioning bodies sometimes take less than three percent from boxers’ purses when multiple titles are at stake in the same championship match. It is possible, however, for fighters to pay a total of 12 percent from their purses in a full title unification bout, when four titles are on the line."

That's just ridiculous! The WBA is the worst! That WBC "Franchise" belt was totally unnecessary! Did nothing to help the sport, and just added more controversy!

Neither Hayne or Devis are real Champions. Hayne and Devis are got their belt though Loma was the champion
