What people need to remember about Loma and Lopez.

Lomachenko, in only 16 fights has had 15 world title fights. Going an extremely successful 13-2.

That’s absolutely unparalleled in boxing history. He’s been a trailblazer for amateurs turning over to the pro game.

In Floyd Mayweather’s 16th fight he was fighting Gustavo Cuello, Roy Jones was annihilating Art Serwano, Ray Leonard fought Bernardo Prada.

And then in his 16th fight Teofimo Lopez has just beat Vasyl Lomachenko to become the undisputed lightweight champion, and he deserves full credit for beating a modern great.

I really don’t understand why people feel the need to disparage what Loma has achieved and what Lopez has just achieved.

        You badly missed the point...

Far more elite amateurs are now being matched aggressively. Loma has 100% been a trailblazer in that field. Take a guy like GGG, who was also an elite amateur who turned pro in his mid 20’s yet didn’t fight for a world title until around his 20th fight. Nobody in boxing history has ever been matched like Loma from debut.

Age is irrelevant to the point. It remains unparalleled historically. I was just using those fellow ATG’s to highlight how unparalleled it is.
