Did a Green Teofimo Lopez Just Beat Vasiliy Lomachenko?

Kid was 23 years old with not an extensive amateur career and only 15 fights, so do you consider this a green version of Lopez beating Lomachenko?

No a focused young world champion stuck to his guns and pulled off the upset. Tim Bradley said it best at the weigh in. Everybody is talking about Lomo as an amateur 396-1 but Lopez had around 150 amateur fights so he is not a newbie in the sport by any means.

Definitely green to me, they were brave with him but he is and was green when he took the fight. Sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesn’t but more power to him, his trainer and promoter for making that fight, can never imagine another promoter making that fight. Even Eddie Hearn said he should not take the fight, milk the belt for another two fights before fighting a older Lomachenko. This is why I want Lopez to be the focal point of credit here, his older rivals wouldn’t take a fight like that.

I think Lopez had 170 amateur fights.

But either way, you could say he’s previously fought less than 2 rounds anywhere near the top level. So he was definitely lacking in experience at a high level.

Last week I was saying here that it’s a ****** logic to think a guy is going to lose a fight because he’s “never fought at that level” - Every fighter that becomes an elite fighter has been at the point where they never fought at the elite level until they do and then they win.

Canelo had tons more experience than Teo. The more I'm think about this the worse this loss is for Loma.

Nobody had Teo anywhere near their top 10 p4p rankings and Teo just beat the #1 p4p fighter. He didn't land some lucky punch and KO him. He out boxed him.

Yes. Teo is green not only in fight experience but also in big fight experience. This was his first title defense.

Let's be consistent. If Canelo was green as a champion with over 40 professional fights, than yes...Teo was green and yes... The so called #1 p4p fighter got beat by a green kid with 15 fights...
