Legitimate Upset Champions?

Has there been a fighter that has upset a champion (like Douglas over Tyson) but turned out to be a legitimate champion (unlike Douglas)?

This thread is just a backhanded way of nuthugging Cassius Clay. To make his debacle with Liston seem legitimate. Ali in an interview preceeding his bout with Zora Folley admits that he is not a power puncher and goes on to list all of the notable opponenents that he had stopped and does not mention Liston.
